Sprint Triathlon: 10 weeks, peaks at ~10 h.

750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run in about 1–2 h: the bike near threshold and the run close to 5K effort. That's the intermediate plan; beginner runs 10, advanced runs 8 weeks.

Beginner
10 weeks, two swims, two rides and two or three runs a week: an easy brick, two race-pace bricks and a race simulation.Shortest runway 6 weeks · research minimum 6 · 8 sources

Intermediate
10 weeks, three swims, three rides and three runs with doubles on Tuesday and Thursday; a brick every week from week 5.Shortest runway 5 weeks · research minimum 5 · 8 sources

Advanced
8 weeks for an athlete already training about 10 h: four swims, a 2:15 long ride, brick repeats and a full-distance race simulation.Shortest runway 4 weeks · research minimum 4 · 8 sources

The checklist comes with it.

T-7Course recon: the bike turns and the swim exit.
T-3Bike check: tyres, gears, brakes. Race belt and number, elastic laces.
T-2Wetsuit decision from the water temperature: USAT makes it mandatory below 16 °C, allowed up to 78 °F, and 78.1–83.9 °F without award eligibility.
T-1Photograph your transition layout. Gels are optional.
race morningArrive 90 min early; a 10-min swim warm-up, then a seeded or rolling start.

Every plan cites its homework.

Finish-time bands are dossier estimates. The off-the-bike run allowance (2–6% slower than an open 5K) is coaching consensus, not a measured figure, and no RCT has tested brick training itself — the rationale rests on the acute bike→run deficit (−5.8% in a 12-min run test after a hard ride).
